Einladung für junge Leute aus Deutschland an einem Austausch zum Thema "Ghosts of the Past. View from the other side" teil zu nehmen vom 15th – 22nd, February, 2010 in Voronezh, Russia.

This meeting is intended  for  people who want to develop youth cooperation between Western and Eastern
Europe on such topics as Human Rights, antiracism, culture of remembrance and anti-totalitarianism, peace-
making and others. This visit is a part of the international program “The Past and Future of Democracy in
Eastern Europe” - http://www.afc.ynnet.org/ru/node/106.
During the study-visit “"Ghosts of the Past. View from the other side." ” we want to discuss a range of   all-
European challenges, which will become especially important in 2010 in the context of  65-th anniversary of the end of the World War II. Despite of the fact, it came to an end in 1945, Europeans (and not only) have been still facing with consequences of this war in geopolitical, social, cultural spaces of Europe.  We  have to deal with contradictions and complications in our regular activities, which are  related not only  to  practices of
remembrance, but to almost all fields of civil and Human Rights actions.

During the study-visit “Ghosts of the Past. View from the other side" we want to discuss a range of all- European challenges, which will become especially important in 2010 in the context of 65-th anniversary of the end of the World War II. Despite of the fact, it came to an end in 1945, Europeans (and not only) have been still facing with consequences of this war in geopolitical, social, cultural spaces of Europe. We have to deal with contradictions and complications in our regular activities, which are related not only to practices of remembrance, but to almost all fields of civil and Human Rights actions.

We want to focus our meeting on those topics:
• Anti-totalitarianism in modern Europe: culture of remembrance and resistance (i.e. public and state tribunals, Human Rights as a tool to fight totalitarianism, practices of student's resistance etc.);
• European antifascism: crisis of actions and ideas?;
• Newly-created and old borders of the Europe, visa-regimes vs international youth cooperation…;
• International voluntary projects: between peacemaking and youth tourism?;
You can also suggest your topic, if you wish!

What is planned within the study-trip:
− participation of young people from Russia, Germany, the Ukraine and other countries of Eastern and Western Europe;
− meetings with civil, Human Right, youth organizations from Voronezh and Moscow; 2- days seminar on the topics mentioned above with the input from international experts and trainers; public events and the cultural programme.

We invite those who:
• are interested in Eastern Europe from civil, political or Human Rights points of view;
• are experienced in Human rights and civil activities and ready to hold a topic-related work-shop;
• are able to be present from the beginning to the end;
• are ready to communicate in working languages (English, Russian).

The interpretation in German is possible in certain cases. Organizers will provide participants with food and accommodation and will partly reimburse travel costs. Visa support will be also given. If you want to attend this study-visit, you should fill in an application form until 7st of January!
